Hi Ed and fellow VoCampers,

I have been entertaining the notion of hosting a NeoGeoVoCamp co-located with ISWC to provide an open, flexible format for discussing vocabulary/tool needs for bridging the gap between the Semantic Web and the Geo Web. To me, the popularity of neogeography on the Web provides an opportunity to bridge this gap by adding lightweight geosemantics to neogeography models/tools that both Semantic Web engineers and GIS engineers can EASILY utilize.

I attended the Sunnyvale and NYC VoCamps and truly appreciate the engaging format VoCamp offers. I think having a partially "domain-oriented" VoCamp on geospatial models could be a great way to start building momentum towards a set of NeoGeo models/extended-models/tools, etc.

One of the topics I really would like to discuss in relation to geospatial and temporal models is Events. I believe this is one of the main topics at Tom and Valentina's VoCamp, correct? So, combining the two VoCamps as you proposed, Ed, makes a lot of sense to me. I had no idea there would be space for 100 VoCampers. That's a lot of VoCampers! How shall I say it...thanks for the hospitality!

Ed, I will update the NeoGeoVoCamp wiki page to reflect the new location shortly. Let me know any other information I should post as well. Thank you again for the invite. I'm looking forward to the VoCamp(s)!

- Todd

BTW, is there irony in the fact that I'm looking to host a geo vocamp and forgot to include the location in the wiki page title? I should probably fix this :)

Just a quick note to announce that a Vocabulary Camp has been
scheduled at the Library of Congress in Washington DC (Oct 30-31) [1].
Tom Heath and Valentina Presutti had the idea to host this VoCamp just
after the International Semantic Web Conference (Oct 25-29) [2]. The
idea being that people who are potentially interested will already be
in the DC area. I wanted to get the word out now so people could
adjust their travel plans if necessary.

The wiki page [1] is pretty light on details at the moment, so if you
would like to attend, please free to add yourself, and any topics that
might be of interest. I noticed that the NeoGeoVoCamp folks are
looking to host a VoCamp at the same time [3], but haven't found a
location yet. We'll have space for up to 100 people in the room at the
Library of Congress, so perhaps we can combine these two events? The
LC venue will have public wifi, and is in the Jefferson Building [4]
where Gutenberg and Mainz Bibles and other library eye candy are
nearby.

I hope you can join us,
//Ed
